About Homer

  • Housetrained: Yes
3/31/24 Homer
What a gem! Homer was in a municipal shelter here in Arkansas, where he had run out of time and was in danger of being euthanized. Thanks to a wonderful foster opening their home, we are able to save this sweet boy in the nick of time, and we are so glad we did! Homer may not look fancy, but he makes up for that with his winning personality. He LOVES going to Doggy daycare and playing with all the other dogs there. He is an affectionate dog, but is not demanding at all. He is thankful for any little pat on the head or kind word. He is smart and very receptive to training, so he quickly house, crate, and leash manners. He is not a high energy dog with his humans at all, but when other dogs initiate higher energy play, he's game! Homer recently underwent heartworm treatment and came through it with flying colors! He is now recovered and is ready to find his forever home! We would love to see him go to a home with another dog companion, or a family who will enroll him in a daycare one or two times a week to keep him social. He is not anxious when left alone, so he would do fine with a family that has a regular work schedule out of the home. He is nit a l loud dog and would be OK for apartment or condo dwellers, as long as they can give him proper exercise and stimulation. We are unsure of Homer's breed, but he is about 60 lbs and we believe he is 3 or 4 years old. This website makes us pick a breed to list him as, he is probably a mix of several breeds. We put Boxer mix because a breed ID app listed Boxer as a potential breed. Who knows! He does have one wonky ear which is probably due to an old hematoma that was left untreated or an old injury. It does not seem to bother him at all and there is nothing to be done for it. If you are looking for a chill, sweet natured dog who is content to just keep you company, Homer is your guy! Please consider giving him a forever home, and if you can't do that, please share his post to help him find a good home.
