About Hogan

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

8/20/17 Hogan came into rescue as a puppy when he was found as a stray, along with his 2 sisters. After being in rescue for a short time, we had all 3 of them spayed/neutered and they were doing well. A few months went by and the 2 sisters became sick. We were never able to determine what was wrong with them but they both passed away within a few days of eachother. At that time, Hogan was removed from the website, until we could be sure he would stay healthy. I am ashamed to admit that in the busy-ness of rescue, I completely forgot to re-list Hogan on the website. Last week, I made a trip to his foster home to take pictures of some puppies she had there, and I saw Hogan, alone in his pen. THe weeds had grown thicker and taller than him. His foster mom is an older lady who does the best she can but just is not able to keep up with yard maintenance. I did find someone in the community who is going over to cut the weeds and make the pen a bit more enjoyable for Hogan, but it is still an outside pen. It is better than being on the streets, but is far from ideal for any dog. Hogan is so lonely out there and I promised him that I would find him a home soon. He is absolutely stunning. My guess on his weight is about 120-130lbs. And he still has some growing to do. He is going to be very big. He is incredibly sweet and longs for attention and affection. He just wants to kiss and hug and would probably sit in your lap if given the opportunity, haha. Hogan is young and energetic, so he would really benefit from some formal training. He got along well with his sisters before they died and has not had the opportunity to play with other dogs since then. His foster mom is afraid to try him with other dogs because if there happened to be a fight, he is so big she would not be able to break it up and someone would get seriously hurt. I don't believe there would be a problem with him and other friendly dogs. He seems to just want to play with them through the fence. But of course, caution should be exercised until he has a chance to prove himself. If you are looking for a big, beautiful dog, Hogan may be your man!

Hogan is located in Arkansas and will be transported out of state once adopted. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com.
