UPDATE: 10.10.17 Lathan came into rescue along with 4 of his littermates, when they were about 11 weeks old. (DOB estimated Jan. 6, 2017). They had been dumped on a busy highway and a good samaritan found them and brought into rescue. Sadly, several of their siblings had been killed on the highway before help arrived. Lathan's siblings looked very much like German Shepherds. We believe Lathan is a GSD mixed with Husky and/or Pit Bull. Soon after coming into rescue, it was determined that Lathan is completely deaf. All of his littermates were adopted quickly but because of his impairment, Lathan's adopter decided not to take him and no one else has adopted him either, so he has been here a long time. Lathan is such a wonderful, loving, sweet natured dog. He is here with me at my home, where he has learned crate training and the sign for "no". He loves to be scratched under his chin and sit at your feet all day long if you are scratching him! He is young so he has a moderate amount of energy but we allow him plenty time to play outside (he LOVES to swim in the pond!) and then when he comes in he goes to sleep and being deaf, he sleeps very sound. Lathan loves all people and truly wants to please. He just needs someone that has the time to commit to teaching him. He is mostly house trained but coming into a new environment, he may need a little more training on that. He is eager to learn new things and is a smart boy. He will make an exceptionally loyal and loving companion. He is neutered and up to date on shots, and has been on heartworm prevention since coming into rescue.  For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com

3.24.2017 These babies were dumped on a busy highway. a good Samaritan came across them, but several of their siblings had already been run over by cars and killed. The 5 surviving puppies are now safe in rescue. We believe these babies are German Shepherd mixes. Some of the puppies also appear to be mixed with Husky. They appear to be about 11 weeks now (estimated DOB Jan. 6, 2017). These babies are very sweet and playful. Right now, they are pretty rambunctious because they don't get enough attention due to so many dogs in the rescue. So they will need a family who will be willing to train them to be gentle when they play. They are very smart and eager to learn, and with a little effort, they will make excellent companions.

UPDATE: it has recently been determined that Laithan is totally deaf. He is crate trained and he gets along very well with other dogs. He is a loving and sweet natured puppy who is eager to learn and is very smart.

These puppies are located in Arkansas but out of state transport is available, once adopted. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com
